Goals & Objectives
Objectives: - To disseminate and exchange information on Health and Medical Informatics (HMI) programs and courses. - To promote the IMIA HMI database on programs and courses on HMI education. - To produce international recommendations on HMI programmes and courses. - To support HMI courses and exchange of students and teachers. - To advance the knowledge of: (1) how informatics is taught in the education of health care professionals around the world, (2) how in particular health and medical informatics is taught to students of computer science/informatics, and (3) how it is taught within dedicated curricula in health and medical informatics.
Recent Activities:
William Hersh continues in the role of chair of the group. Activities of the group include: 1. Identifying and harmonizing competencies and curricula for health and biomedical informatics, including workshops at the Medinfo and AMIA meetings, updating of the IMIA curriculum recommendations, and AMIA/IMIA collaboration on both the Rockefeller eHealth initiative and the 2020 initiative. 2. Improving our Web presence. 3. Planning our next working group conference in October, 2008.
